Program: Repair structural damages to existing overhang and pre-cast parapet.
Description: The Theatre Building in the Humacao Campus was built in 1968 and designed by Amaral y Morales Arquitectos & Structural Engineers Hernández y Hernández. The overhang suffered a lot of stress by the weight of the pre-cast concrete parapet among other factors. The proposed design includes adding steel “trusses” to secure the overhang and correct the deflection of the overhang. The existing parapet is removed and recycled. The new parapet is made of a lightweight metal framing with exterior sheathing thus reducing any additional stress on the overhang.
