The project was to remodel an existing house built in 1994 by architect Carlos J. Ralat. The task at hand was to accommodate larger bedrooms, Master Wing, open up the living spaces, add a guest house, large 4-car garage and re-organize pool areas.
The owners requested a modest house in a rural neighborhood of San Sebastian. The house distribution proposed allows for natural light and air flow throughout.
The design strategy evolved around a massive axial wall that organizes the program in public vs. private and visually connects the interiors with the expansive exteriors.
The house located at corner lot of the popular La Villa de Torrimar suburban neighborhood in Guaynabo, presented opportunities that the current layout was not taking advantage of.
The project consisted of restructuring a one level house into a 5-bedroom modern home.
