UPR Administración Central – New Entrance Stair and Ramp

UPR Administración Central – New Entrance Stair and Ramp
Client: Universidad de Puerto Rico
Location: Jardín Botánico Sur, San Juan, PR
Phase: in construction
Year: 2023
Size: 6,000 sq. ft.
Cost: $950K
Description: The University’s Central Administration Office building needed to replace a deteriorated steel emergency stair. As the stairs are located adjacent to the most frequently used entrance to the building, we took the opportunity to replace the stairs with and exposed concrete volume that connects to the language of the existing building. The stairs are encased in tinted concrete shell with openings that act as a new façade to the entrance. Also, it is complemented in its architectural language with a much needed ramp that better defines the entry sequence.
